Analysis of the panic room

Analysis of Panic room
Panic room is a Thriller film directed by David Fincher and written by David Koepp. The plot is about a mother and daughter who move in to a three story house and three armed robbers who try to steal 3 million dollars and bonds from the house. The daughter and mother try to keep themselves safe by hiding in the panic room but the catch is the daughter has diabetes and needs insulin.
The scene starts with a establishing shot of the city this lets the audience know where the film will be set. The typography used is 3d white block and the city buildings are used as the backdrop for it. This could be to represent the importance of buildings because this film is about a house and its panic room. The names of the actors/directors and people involved in this film are. The typography also floats over the city in busy traffic as it is apart of the scenery.
The lighting in this sequence is quite bright as it is filmed during the day. The weather is clear and it actually looks like a nice spring day. The music/soundtrack is very low and sombre even sinister like. As the audience it sets up the mood for the rest of the film as dark, dangerous and on edge. It sounds like a violin or a another string instument. Halfway through the music picks up and you can then hear a ticking of what sounds like a clock, this automatically mkes you think of time. When the music and the typography on the building together merge it makes the actors names seem very important, big characters its almost as if the names have taken up a life of their own. Powerful and omnipotent.
